I've been burning wood and leather for a few years now, using anything from a nail in the campfire to soldering irons, gas torches and recently a very old wire tip burner. I much prefer the wire tip variety.

Anyway, I am retired and don't have a lot of money for one of those super duper machines costing a hundred pounds or more - but what I have a lot of is time. So I thought I'd maybe make myself a hot wire machine. I have already made a few home made pens from brass rod and the brass inserts off electrical terminal blocks, cobbled together inside a piece of uPVC water pipe for a handle, and filled/insulated with bathroom sealant. They work well.

What I need though, is an idea of what is inside the box. Anyone ever built their own? Anyone know of plans?

Any help will be gratefully put to good use.

I also acknowledge that any info posted here and used by me will be soley at my own risk.

Eric

Hi Eric and welcome to the forum. I have a schematic and info on making the tips, but I'll have to find it. When I do I'll PM the info to you. The electronics inside are minimal....

I know this is an AAaaancient thread, but if you still have those plans, I would love to see them.
